Job Description
You will be working as a laboratory technician in the MTD Oil & Petrochemical laboratory in Cardiff. This will involve performing analysis on oil and petrochemical samples following International Standard and in-house test procedures and entering test results on to laboratory LIMS system, whilst ensuring the laboratory complies with ISO 17025 requirements.
Key Responsibilities
The list below provides an overview of the key responsibilities of the role:
- Undertake analysis on petroleum and petrochemicals and enter results into laboratory LIMS system, in line with instructions by laboratory managers and in line with requirements of the laboratory standard ISO 17025.
- Perform calibrations and maintain equipment as instructed by laboratory management.
- Demonstrate compliance with all test methods, procedures and quality systems.
- Prepare draft reports and certificates of analysis.
- Carry out validation of instruments/methods where necessary.
- Maintain organised systems of work for traceability and compliance with laboratory accreditation.
MTD’s Requirements
- Minimum A-Level in Chemistry.
- Several years previous experience of analysis in an oil and petrochemicals laboratory.
- Familiarity with the routine testing of petroleum products and petrochemicals to international standard test methods (IP, ISO, ASTM); experience of testing bunker fuels, aviation fuel, gasoline and diesel is essential.
- Proficiency in word, excel and LIMS systems.
- Understanding of the significance of the tests being performed.
- Highly motivated, can do attitude.
