Our UKAS accredited laboratories have mechanical test facilities which include tensile, impact and hardness testing. MTD have expertise in the mechanical testing of a wide range of materials including composites, polymers and metals of almost every type and form.
Mechanical testing is one of the key indicators of a materials’ properties, and is normally a requirement for any type of failure investigation or materials characterisation procedure. Our UKAS accredited metallurgical and materials testing laboratories have mechanical test facilities which include tensile, impact and hardness testing. We test materials in accordance with National and International standards; such as British Standards, European standards, ISO and ASME
Our mechanical testing facilities include:
- Tensile (up to 500kN),
- Charpy impact (at ambient and sub-zero temperatures),
- Material hardness can be measured on many different scales including Vickers, Rockwell for metallics and Shore for polymers and rubbers. Measurements can also be made “on-site” using portable instrumentation.
