Prior to joining MTD, Kenneth’s career in industry began at a South African parastatal division in polymer and fuels research, with particular speciality in energy generation. He then moved to a speciality product and services chemicals manufacturer, where operational experience was gained in the management of laboratories servicing the processing, distribution and customer support arms of the business.
Kenneth then joined a Synthetic Fuel and chemicals manufacturing group in South Africa where, as Chief Chemist in research and development, he was closely involved in company new initiatives/ventures, in processing, product quality, through to customer applications, to ensure that a fit-for-purpose product was realised.
Kenneth has also managed the Oil, Gas & Chemical and Technical Support departments of independent inspection companies covering South and East Africa and has provided independent consultancy services to clients in industrial fuels, power generation and chemical feedstocks, with a focus on analytical techniques and quality control.
Since joining MTD in 2018, Kenneth has been heavily involved in the development of analytical procedures aimed at investigating the composition of power generation fuel, particular marine residual fuel oil/bunker fuel. He has also been involved in investigations of quality disputes on a variety of bulk liquid materials, including petroleum products, petrochemicals and bunker fuels.
